Throwback Tuesday: Sally Hansen Color Quicks Chrome Collection.

Sorry it's late, but at least I am getting posted on Tuesday. As you see this weeks Throwback Tuesday is my color quicks collection from Sally Hansen. If you have been following my blog since the beginning you may remember when I bought these. I have only had them for about two years, but when I was swatching my collection, I noticed some of them were drying up, so I thought that I would do a Throwback Tuesday post on them.

I have 8 color quicks. I own the entire Chrome collection. I found these for 1 dollar at Dollar Tree and at Big Lots 2 years ago. Sadly I believe these are discontinued. Is Sally Hansen even still making the Color Quicks anymore. I don't remember seeing them at Walgreens or anywhere here lately.

Top to Bottom
Fuchsia Chrome
Turquoise Chrome
Green Chrome
Silver Chrome
Gold Chrome
Red Chrome
Pink Chrome
Purple Chrome
When I found these, I was really excited to find them. I was even more excited about the deal I found them at. Only ONE dollar. They were retailing about 5 to 8 dollars I believe. Since I love the Sally Hansen Brand, I thought that I would love these. I wasn't really impressed with the Color Quick line. It could be because they were chrome, and I really do not like metallic finished on my nails, but I didn't grab for these at all. I may have worn them each once. My cousin wore them more than I did. I think they were swatched more than either myself and my cousin both wore them. Let's just say I am glad I only painted one dollar for them.

What saddens me the most right now is that I am going to have to throw half of them away. I cannot give them another chance. Sometimes when I revisit a polish, I end up liking it.

While moving, my swatches got destroyed, so I have been working on getting my entire collection swatched again. While swatching these, as I said before, I noticed some dried up.

Red, Fuchsia, Pink, and Purple:
These four have dried complete up. I cannot get any product out of it. I don't think that the polish itself has dried up, I think something is blocking the polish coming out onto the brush. The brush was extremely hard as well. I am probably going to be throwing these away, but before I do, I am going to research and see if there is a way I can rehab them.

Turquoise, Green, Silver, and Gold:
I can still get polish out of these, but I have no real control with the brushes with them. They are covered with polish, and are no longer flexible. The Turquoise color quick came out in globes. I will probably end up throwing it out also. The Silver and Gold I am planning on keeping because I can use them as a base for a glitter nail.

VERDICT:
Research if they can be rehabbed, but if not, throwing them all away except for the Silver and Gold.

Rue's Life:
  • Lily has eaten all day. Here lately, she goes a couple of day without eating a lot, but then she goes a few days and is eating CONSTANTLY!
  • It didn't rain yesterday, but it's raining again today. I think that it's suppose to rain tomorrow and Thursday also.

Rue's Collection: Top Coats and Mini Review (July 2013)

I haven't really blogged about anything beauty in almost two weeks. I am sorry about that. I thought that I was doing really great keeping a schedule, but it seems like here lately when it starts to rain it pours. (both figuratively and actually).

Today I am bring you my Top Coat Collection. I have several top coats, but I have my favorites that I go to time and time again.

These six top coats are the ones that I grab the most.

Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Plus, Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure, Sally Hansen Diamond Strength, Revlon Top Coat, Essie no chips ahead, Seche Vite.
Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Plus: This is a fast drying top coat. It's not as thick as Seche Vite, and it doesn't dry as quick. I found it at the Dollar Tree and I love it. I wish I could find more. If you know where I can find more leave a comment below.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Top Coat: I use this one more as a base coat or if I am going to just leave my nails natural. It's not a fast drying top coat.

Sally Hansen Diamond Strength: I have used this top coat for years, and I have repurchased it. I love this top coat. It's my go to top coat, if I am out of my fast drying top coats.

Revlon Top Coat: This is an older top coat, but it along with my Sally Hansen DS are my two go to top coats. I have not had to repurchase this one yet, but it is getting kind of old. I probably will have to repurchase this one soon.

Essie no chips ahead: I found this on clearance at Wal-mart. I think it was already old because it was yellow. I don't think it's suppose to be yellow. I have not had this top coat long, and I seem to lose it all the time. I bought it around the time of my move, and it never got put where I keep my top coats, it just gets put on my dresser so it gets moved around all the time. One thing I can say about this is it doesn't make my nails shiny enough.

Seche Vite: I have the regular size of the bottle, but it has thickened up so much I cannot get the brush out. I went to Sally's the other day and they had the mini bottles, so I picked up one. I do love this top coat, but it's more expensive for me, and it dries up in the bottle so quickly. I do love this top coat for glitter polishes. It smooths it out.

These four top coats and base coat I do not grab as often, and are my least favorites.
Quick Dry top coat, Wet n Wild fast dry, Base and top coat, the color workshop top coat.
Quick Dry Top Coat: I found this at the Dollar Tree and was hoping that it was going to be like the Seche Vite. It is NOT. It was a complete waste of $1. It take forever to dry and it's suppost to be a QUICK DRY top coat. Also even after it was completely dry and no longer smudging my manicure, it still felt sticky, even after 24 hours. Has anyone else tried this top coat and had this problem?

Wet n Wild fast dry: I have not used this one as much, but I have had it for several years. I love the brand Wet n Wild, but I am not a huge fan of the fast dry's. Maybe it's just the polishes I own. I bought this top coat and the only polish I have of these together. This top coat is just too thin for me. I haven't worn it in a while. I may try it out again, and I will let you know how I like it.

Base and Top Coat: This came in one of those holiday set you get a Walmart during the holidays. It has not brand name. I do not like either of them. The base coat makes my polish chip quicker, actually every time I have used this base coat it had made my polish come off in stripes. It looks almost like I have pilled stickers off my nails. The top coat is too thin, and really doesn't do anything to my nails.

The Color Workshop top coat: I just don't reach for this one. I have maybe only used this one or twice, but  I didn't really like it when I did apply. I cannot really review this one because of that.

Rue's Life
  • I broke a tooth last Friday. I will eventually get it fixed. It's a molar tooth and it's not hurting at this point. I have to find a dentist. I don't have one I go see regularly.
  • I don't know how many days in July it didn't rain, but it rained more than it didn't. For this year alone, we have already reached our years average. Like I said in at the beginning when it rains it pours.
  • YouTube is being put off for right now. I want to focus on my blog more.
  • I have been reading more here lately. Currently I am reading Riding Lessons by Sara Gruen.
  • Do you want me to do a Rue's Reads Blog. Tell you what I am reading and what I have read.

Depressed.

I am so sorry guys. I feel so depressed that I haven't posted anything with any good material this week or last week really. I am trying to keep you updated on the situation. I did find my droid. YAY, but I have been on the go ALL day today and haven't had time to take any pictures. I also hadn't painted my nails at all this week, but I PROMISE that I will be back in action next week.

Walgreens Sale!

Once again Walgreens have their Sinful Colors on sale. They are 2 for $3, and you get 1000 rewards points, which is one dollar off on a later purchase. You have to be a Reward Points member. It's free and all you have to do is sign up. I highly recommend it, especially if you buy a lot of makeup and nail polish. You can gather points up quickly. Most of the drugstore makeup brands have if you buy a certain dollar amount of the brand, you get so many points.

Quick update on camera situation:
I have not found my Droid to take any pictures and I cannot get the memory card to work on my camera at all. So I am hoping to get one tomorrow, which is pay day. Tomorrow and Friday will probably be post loaded unless I find my Droid tonight.

Why does it seem like when it rains it pours? Does any one else feel this way?

Rue's Updates

I haven't blogged since Friday, and that really wasn't a post. I am feeling a lot better. Monday and Tuesday of last week, I had a headache as most of you know, and then Wednesday I caught a stomach bug, which was only a 24 hour thing, but it took a lot out of me. So last week was pretty much wasted. This week I am trying to catch everything up.

THREE BIG Thing have happened. First off, shortly after posting my post about no Rue's Nails, Lily knocked my laptop off the table that I was working on breaking the screen. I can still use it, but I have to have it hooked up to a monitor so it's no longer portable. I cannot really blog during the day right now because of Lily. My laptop became a CPU and is no longer portable. Also Lily isn't allowed in my room because it's not baby proofed so I have to wait until her mom is home.

Second thing, Lily broke my memory card for my camera, so I haven't been able to take pictures with it. Hopefully this week I will have another.

Third, I have lost my Droid that I had been taking nail pictures with. I have been working on my room, so I think that I have just missed placed it. I am hoping to find it tonight so I can post both yesterday and today's post.

Rue's Sick Days...

I have been sick all week.  So there isn't going to be any Rue's Nails this week. I have NO polish on my nails. So I don't have any looks to show you. Hopefully I will feel better next week and be back to normal.

Rue's Life

  • I'm still not feeling 100%. I probably will not be posting as much this week, and the quality of the post will not be the best.
  • Lily's not sleeping. She was up until after 12 last night, and when she's not sleeping the whole house isn't sleeping. Then at 430 she was up again.

Throwback Tuesday-- Rush Collection

Here is the second week of Throwback Tuesday. If you missed last weeks here is the link to check it out.
http://ruesbeautyworld.blogspot.com/2013/07/throwback-tuesday-old-black-nail-polish.html

This week's Throwback  Tuesday is my Rush Collection. These polishes are going on ten years old. This brand was  from Sally's Beauty. This brand was discontinues at my Sally's ten years ago, and I bought several of the polishes then. I have noticed at Sally's now there is a Rush top coat, but I haven't seen any of the colors.

Warm,  heart, hot, and loud

This is going to be the only picture, but I am going to describe each one of these.

Warm-- This is the darkest one that I have. It's also my favorite of the group. This one is starting to dry up a little, and the smell has changed. I am going to try and rehab this one because it is my favorite.

heart-- this is my second favorite color. I would call this a deep red. As warm this one is also starting to dry up and the smell had started to change. I will also try and rehab this one as well.

hot--- this is a lighter red. I do not like this one, and I will not rehab this one. It's getting to the point that I cannot get it to mix when it separate. You can see in the picture that it is still separated. I will throw  it away.

Loud--- This is my least favorite polish in this group. This actually is one of my least favorites in my whole collection. This has the same problem as hot, so I am going to throw this one out as well. I also have two of these. How did that happen? I went several different times to buy these polishes, and I thought it was different color. They are both in the same shape.

VERDICTS
Warm and Heart- Keep and rehab
Hot and Loud--- throw out

Rue's Life

  • Sorry this one wasn't as good as last weeks. I have been Monday and Tuesday. I hurt my neck and it's causing a headache. I need to go get to a Chiropractor.
  • If you haven't noticed the Collection page is back up.
  • My room is almost complete. Everything is unpacked and there are just a couple of things left to put up.

Rue Reuses and Tips . (Cleaning Nail Polish Remover Sponge)

Rue Reuses is how I reuse different things instead of just throwing it away. When I was working on a test video for YouTube, I was filming a What's in my Bag video, and I noticed that I reuse\re-purpose several things. Here recently I cleaned out my nail polish remover sponge,so here are the steps to cleaning it.

In my June favorites, I mentioned my favorite nail polish remover was one with a sponge. This one is from WalMart. I bought the orginial over a year ago. When I was younger, I would use this, but the polish would get so dirty and would throw it away. I have figured it how to clean it and reuse it.  Here is how I do it.

Step 1: Remove Sponge and Wash it with Dish Soap

First thing I do is I remove the sponge from the continer and I turn on hot water. The water needs to be a hot as your hands can stand to be in. The next thing I do is rinse the sponge in the water. This is to remove any glitter that may have settled in the sponge

After I rinse the sponge, I take a dish soap and wash the sponge. I then rinse it completely out. After you get it rinsed, you want to squeeze all the water, and set it aside to dry.

Step 2: Remove old Polish and wash the container with soap and water.

After washing the sponge, I clean the container. As you can see the polish is pretty dirty. I wash it with dish soap and water. Then I set it by the  sponge to dry.

I normally let the it dry for several hours.  When I did this I wash it, and then I ran some arrands.  You want the sponge to be completely dry because you do not want any water in your nail polish.

Final Step: Replace Nail Polish Remover and Let Set to Absorb

Put the sponge back into the container and add you new remover. You can buy any nail polish remove to replace the old. I got the equate brand (from Wal-mart) I use the entire bottle.

After you change the remover, let it set once again. I typically let this set overnight. The polish needs to absorb back into the sponge. It you use it right away,  it may not work the way you are use to working.

With this way of removing my polish, I find it makes it easier to get glitter off.  I clean this out anywhere from month, to every three. It depends on how much you paint your nails.

I hope you liked this post. I think some people buy this type of remover, and when it get's dirty, they throw it away. It cost less to clean it out and replace it with a new bottle of polish. You save a dollar each time you do this. The sponge remover cost around 2 dollars and the bottle of polish remover is only a dollar. The price may vary where you live. Buy the store brand to cut down on cost. Store Brands can work just as well as name brand.

Rue's Life

  • I hope this week is better than this past week.
  • I have asked off for next Sunday, my aunt is coming into town. Keep your fingers cross I get off.
  • Once again, I have this to schedule to post on Sunday July 14 Noon EST.  Hopefully this will post on time. I will check it when I get home Sunday night to see. So far the schedule posting has worked. So I can post on the weekends now.
Peaceful and Happy Thoughts,

Rue's Life Updates

I do Rue's Life at the end of most post,  but there are just some things that I cannot put at the end of it, because it would be a whole post in it's self, so I am going to do a whole post in itself.

I can't believe it's almost mid July already.

Some questions I have been getting here lately is who is Lily? Is she your daughter?
Lily is my cousin's 22 months old daughter. I take care of her though the week when her mom is at work since I work on the weekends. This helps cut the cost of child care. Lily is a big part of my life.

With it being mid July, it's almost back to school time. About a month,  and it's back to school. Speaking of school, I mention in yesterday's post that I am looking into Beauty Schools. I don't know if I will be able to go, because of the schedule.  I would attend beauty school at night,  but their night school schedule is going Tuesday through Saturday 4-8 at night. First, I am babysitting Lily until 4:30 through the week, and then I work on the weekends. I am trying to go to thirds on the weekends, but I have been in the process of going to thirds for over a month now, so I am unsure of when I will be switching shifts. My cousin is looking into different options for Lily.  The school starts in September,so we have a little bit of time to figure things out. Also there is another beauty school in the area to see if there schedule is different. I will keep you all up dated on this.

Peaceful and Happy Thoughts,

What's Does Rue Take To the Pool? Leaves in the car or at home?

Summer is in full swing. How many of you all are sitting pool side or going to the beach? I know I am certainly at the pool anytime I get the chance. It helps that both my cousins are lifeguards, so they come home before work, I just hitch a ride with them to the pool.  Since I live in Tennessee, I am not close to the beach, so I cannot do What's in my Beach bag? but I am going to do,  as in the title, What's in my Pool bag?

THE BAG:
Typically when I go to the pool, I have Lily with me, so I tend to take more with me. I typically have two bags with me. One's a backpack and the other one is a tote bag. The tote bag stays in the car.  The tote bags has extra clothes and extra towels in it. I will go get the tote bag when we are getting ready to leave. I only typically take in one towel in, and that's to lay on if I don't bring a chair with me.

WHAT'S IN THE BAG?
Sunscreen
After Sun Lotion
Lip Balm with SPF
(Currents post coming up, to see what I use for the first three item come back and take a look. It's going to be posted sometime next week. I am planning on Monday, but it maybe Tuesday).
Detangler ( normally buy one from the dollar store)
comb\brush
book
Snacks and Water ( for the snacks I like to bring dried fruit. Being out in the sun will not effect it)
Sunglasses (Wayfarers are my favorite frames right now)
Extra hair tie\band ( if I don't have an extra one, I always lose the one I have in my hair.  IT seems like every time I jump in I lose it, and then it's gone forever)

CARRY IN
HUGE two person towel (now you see why I only bring one in)

What I leave behind?
My purse: I leave it at home, and just pull the necessity out.  I don't want to take the chance of it getting stolen. Plus you already have a pool bag why would you need a purse as well.
My wallet: I tend to leave it at home as well.  I have a small change purse that I keep a little money in and my driver's license and sometimes my debt card. with me. Again I don't want to take the chance of my wallet getting stolen.
My makeup bag: I leave it with my purse. I tend to go home after a day at the pool, so I don't need makeup anyways.
Cell Phone: I leave it in the car. I don't want to take the chance of it getting thrown in the pool.

Let me know what's in your pool\beach bag by commenting below. Come back next week to see what I am currently using in my everyday life and seasonal.

Rue's Life
  • Hope every one has a great weekend. I am working this weekend, but since I can schedule the post to post when I am not here,  I can still get a post out to you on the weekends.
  • I am looking into Beauty Schools, but I am unsure if I will be able to go.
Peaceful and Happy thoughts,

Rue's Nails-- SinfulColors Sinful Shine (review and Versus)

First as I stated in the Influenster Un-boxing post  I received this product complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

Check out my un-boxing post to see what else I got from influenster.
http://ruesbeautyworld.blogspot.com/2013/07/rues-un-boxing-influenster-sunkissed.html

This week's Rue's Nails are going to be only one look with Sinful Shine polish. I only polished my nail once this week. The later part of this week, I hadn't been feeling well, so I haven't paint my nails. This is going to be several blog series put in one. There isn't going to be a  post on Saturday.

Sinful Colors Sinful Shine is a new line from Sinful Colors that is exclusively found at Walgreens for a limited time. It's 2.99 instead of the 1.99 regular Sinful Colors are. In the Vox Box they sent two cards with descriptions on it. Here is what the description said "Sinful Shine with Gel Tech technology provides opulent rich color and superb shine." Sinful Shine comes in 32 shades.

How do you know you are getting the Sinful Colors Sinful Shine?
Currently at my local Walgreens, they have them in a separate display away from the other Sinful Colors, but there are noticeable differences by the bottle.

As you can see the bottle are the same shape, but the handles of the nail polish is different. The Sinful Shine is a bronze Metallic, and the original Sinful Colors is a black. The bottle says SINFUL SHINE, and Sinful Colors just has Sinful Colors on it. If you pay attention there is no way you can mistake the two polishes.

I had seen the display for these new polishes at Walgreens, but I decided not to pick any up because none of the colors popped out at me. When I got my Influenster VoxBox, to my surprise Sinful Colors Sinful Shine was in it. I was happy to get a free nail polish. I was sent Man Hunt (ADD Description from card)

First Impression of the Polish (before putting it on my nails): When I saw the color in the bottle, I did not like the color. I do own green nail polish, but I typically do not where it a whole lot. I remember showing my cousin and telling her it's camo green with a little shimmer. I wished they had sent me a different color. Before I put this on my nails, I was afraid that not liking the color would influence my review. Typically when I do not like a color, I do not like the polish.

It took me a week to finally put this polish on my nails, and to my surprise, I loved this color on my nails. My first impression was totally wrong. This color is beautiful. Now, it's more of a fall color, and it will be wore a lot. The polish goes on like a Sinful Colors polish. They didn't change the brush from their regular line. It went on easily and it was opaque in TWO coats. It is shiny like the description says. I did not put a top coat on here. I do love when my shiny nails. It dried fairly quickly. I did the first coat on my left hand and by the time I finished my right hand, the first coat was dry enough to do the second coat on my left hand. The color still reminds me of Camo Green, and if I would ever go hunting I would wear it on my nails. There is a shimmer in this polish. I cannot tell if it's blue or silver. Sometimes it looks blue and others it looks silver.

Wear of the polish?
After one day, there was no noticeable wear around the tip of the nails. I have had polishes that would show wear on the first day. Right after I polished my nails, I started working on my room again,  unpacking and setting it up. I did a lot of work on the first day, and there was no visible chips. I do work a lot with my hands. I can actually be hard on my hands. I did change this polish after the second day, because I broke a nail and it caused the polish to peel.

This is not the first time I have seen a polish in a bottle and hated it. It's a beautiful polish. I will be going to get some more at Walgreens. I recommend this polish. They are sure to have a color for you. They are only 2.99.

Since getting this polish,I have picked up another polish,  and you will see it in a future haul post, but I plan on going to get a couple more polishes. As I said earlier this is only found out Walgreens for a limited time. I am unsure on how long it is going to be at Walgreens, but I am hoping that Sinful Colors will decided to make it part of their permanent line. I really like these.

Again I received the Sinful Colors  Sinful Shine Man Hunt  complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

Rue's Life
  • I can't believe its the end of the week already.
  • I started this week out with a head ache, and I haven't felt good all week.

Rue's Trash--- June 2013

I have only done one other Rue's Trash, and it happened to be back in September of last year. I had been collecting my empties to do another, but we moved, so I just went ahead and threw it out because I didn't want it to come into the new apartment. Here is the empties that I have from May to the end of June.

  • Degree Clincal Protection Deodrant: I loved this deodant, and I will repurchase this when I run out of my stock of deo that I have.
  • Nivea body wash: I got this free in the mail. It is a sample size. I used this while we were moving, and I had already packed up my other body washes. I probably will not buy this body wash just because I wasn't a huge fan of the smell.
  • NYC City Curls: I honestly cannot remember when I bought this. I had it for a while and found it moving. It was dried up. If I can't remember it, I am not going to repurchased it.
  • LA Colors Foundation Stick: I didn't use all of these, but it broke on me. I tried to use it, so it was more of a hassle to use so I just threw it away. When I bought it, I was happy because it was an all in one stick, foundation and concealer, so I thought it was going to be great, but it wasn't. I will not repurchase this because I have other foundations and concealers that I own.
  • Suave Naturals everlasting sunshine body wash: In my last Rue's Trash post, I had one of these. This is my holy grail spring\summer body wash. I love this body wash. I even bought the lotion. I wish it had a body spray. I think it smells like a banana popsicle. It' s summer in a bottle. I have  repurchased this, and will continue to.
  • bodycology enchanted forest: This is what I used this winter. It's a musty scent. I may repruchase this in the fall\winter time, but I am unsure.
  • Secret deodant: Not going to repurchase
  • Body Fantasy vampire body spray: I will not purchase this again. When I spray it in the store I loved it, but after wearing it for a while,it tended to give me a headache.
  • Walgreens Refreshing Aloe Lotion: This was a winter stample for me this past winter. I have repurchased and will continue to repurchase. It's only 99 cents. It helps with dry hands. I love this and will recommend this lotion.
  • Soft lips: This is the tinted one, and it's just way too light for me. Also I have had this way too long,so I am tossing it.
Here is my trash for the months of May and June. Come back at the end of July\ first of August and see what I went through during this month. I wanted to post this sooner, but it just didn't seem to happen.

Rue's NAIL POLISH OBSESSION.--Revisited TAG (Thursday Tag Mania)

Do you remember when I first did this tag? It's been over a year since I did this tag. I did it back in April 2012. Check out the first Nail polish Obsession tag here:

1. What's your favorite Nail Polish Brand?

My favorite brand has become Sally Hansen. I still love Sinful Colors and Wet n Wild are some of my favorites, but Sally Hansen has to be my top favorite.

2. Glitter or No Glitter?

I have been adding more and more glitter to my collection. I am loving glitter more and more.  I still do not like how hard it is to take it off, but I am learning ways to take it off easier.

3. OPI, China Glaze, or essie

Last time I answered this question I felt I couldn't answer this properly since China Glaze was the one I had wore it the most. Now,  I can answer this question properly,

OPI is my favorite. I love the brush, and the formula. I do not like the price, but I can always find it on sale. China Glaze, price wise, is the cheapest, but the brush isn't my favorite. I do not like Essie's brush, but I love the formula.  The brush is too small for me.
4. When do you change your nail polish?

This hasn't changed from the last tag, I change it two to three times a week, depending on how the manicure looks from day to day. If I am trying out a new polish brand or reviewing a polish, it tends to be lesser that week.

5. What's your favorite color on your nails?
I am loving anything in the Mint family.  My favorite Mint is Sally Hansen Hard as Nail Xtreme Wear Mint Sorbet. I keep all my Mint polishes separate from the other polish because it's my go to polish. Also if I am trying a new brand out, if it has a mint polish, I will buy it before anything else, unless I can find one on clearance.

6. Dark or Brights

I went through a phase back in high school that I would only wear dark colors ALL year round.  I use to think Dark polishes looked better on me.

Now, I wear them both. I wear them according to the seasons. More Brights in the spring and summers. More Darks in the fall and winters.

7. What are you wearing right now?

Nothing actually. I do have Sinful Colors Sinful Shine in Mardi Gras on my toes.

8. Matte in or out.

I think it is out now. Matte accents are in.

9. French Mani?

Love the way it looks, but I cannot do one myself. So I don't do it.

10.Favorite Winter Color

OPI Lincoln Park After Dark (or polishes in that color family. Dark plum shades.)
Orly's Mysterious Curse.

11. Favorite Spring Color

Revlon's Buttercup

12. Favorite Summer Color

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Mint Sorbet.

Last Haul from Oct. '12 to June' 13 (Wal-mart, Sally's TJ Maxx, Rite Aid and Ulta)

I  was going to post this all in one HUGE haul, but then I realized I could separate into smaller hauls. Also I hadn't realized how much polish I had collection since October. This is 8 months worth of shopping. The majority of the polish I found was on clearance or less than $2.

This is the last one,and I should be caught up. I can then start hauling recent polish. So next Monday's haul will be from that last few weeks.

Wal-mart
I rarely buy finger nail polish from Wal-mart. They normally do not have polish on sale. If you find it your lucky. It is the only place I can find Pure Ice and it was the first place I saw this new Rimmel polish. Also it the cheapest place to pick up Revlon Color stay nail polish.

Rimmel 60 seconds Mintlicious 2.50
Pure Ice Speechless 1.99
Revlon Color Stay in Butter Cup 4.50

TJ Maxx, Rite Aid,  and Sally's

TJ Maxx,
Color Blast by Orly in Graphic Grape 3.99

Orly Monroe Red 1.49

All the sally's polishes where found in the clearance section.

 ULTA

I only had one polish from the Ulta brand, and when I used it, I fell in love with it. It's a polish that I would recommend.
Ulta's South Beach 1.99
Ulta's Fuchsiamania (This came with a lip gloss as well for 4.99)
Ulta's Deep Desire 1.99
Revlon Royal 1.99 (this was the best find of the whole trip. I couldn't find it anywhere and it was ON CLEARANCE)

Rue's Life

  • Lily's teething.
  • Still looking for a car. Thought I had found one for 800, but the information was wrong, they wanted more. Someone else was looking at it, and if they don't take it I may end up getting it. I am going to have to apply for a loan to get it. I am just going to keep praying and when I am meant to have one, it will happen.

Rue's un-boxing: Influenster Sunkissed VoxBox\First Impressions

The other day, I went to my mail box and to my surprise I had a package in the mail box. It was my Influenster Sunkissed Vox Box.
First of all I want to tell you all that I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes. Now what is Influenster you may ask? It's a service that you can join to receive products to test. You must qualify to be able to be to be sent items to review. I joined back in May of last year, and this is the first VoxBox that I have qualified for.  Also you must be invited to join Influenster. Take a look at their website if you would like to be come and Influenster. http://www.influenster.com/

Here is the un-boxing of my Sunkissed Vox Box.

I opened it before I took the pic of the box. Sorry.

When I opened the box this is what I saw. Some of the products I was extremely excited to see.

Olay Fresh Effect BB Cream
RETAIL--12.99

Olay Fresh Effect BB Cream was the first thing that caught my eye in this box.The card that came with this box describes this BB cream from Olay "24 hour hydration and a splash of sheer color. This all-in-one skin perfecter, sunscreen, and tinted moisturizer evens tone and refreshes dullness, for flawless looking skin (available in two shades: fair\light and light\medium)"

I received the shade fair\light.

This is the first BB cream that I will be trying. I always wanted to try a BB cream, but I just hadn't found one that was in my price range. I had tried a tinted moisturizer before and I did not like it. I will be reviewing this product in a blog to come here in the future.

SinfulColors Sinful Shine Nail Polish
RETAIL--2.99 only at Walgreens.

The next thing I saw was a nail polish. I was so excited to see a see I was sent a nail polish. We all know how I love polishes. This one is from SinfulColors called SinfulShine. It's exclusively at Walgreens for a limited of time.

The description send with this product says "SinfulShine with Gel Tech technology provides opulent rich color and superb shine."
There are 32 shades in the line.

I had looked at this display at Walgreens several times, but had not picked on up yet because none of the colors really caught my eye. At first,  I wasn't happy with the color, but when I put it on,it's gorgeous. I will be posting a review on this here within the week.

Goody Ouchless Ribbon Elastic
RETAIL--3.99 to 4.99

If you have read my June Favorites you know that I love the new Ribbon hair ties. I was sent some by Goody. First, I didn't know Goody was making these. I had not seen these in stores. I have  not opened these yet, but I already love ribbon ties, so I am sure I will love these. Plus I love Goody hair products anyways. I am planning a VERSUS post with these. Putting them up against Mix&Co.

Description says "The embodiment of fashion and comfort from America's #1 elastics brand, the new Ouchless Ribbon Elastics are the pretty solution to hot summer days.

Dr. Scholl's For Here High Heel Insoles
RETAIL---10.99

The last thing I got in my box was Dr. Scholl's for Her inserts.  First of all, I typically do not wear high heels because they tend to hurt my feet. I am looking forward to wearing these to see if they help with my foot pain. If these work, I will wear more heels.

Description: "Dr. Scholl's for Her High Heel Insoles are clinically proven to help prevent foot pain caused by wearing high heel 2" or higher. They offer immediate, long lasting comfort and an ultra-soft  gel arch to shift pressure off the ball of your foot. They're proven to improve the way you feel in heels!"

This card also come in the box. This is where I got the product descriptions and retail price.

Check back here for I will be reviewing these products more in dept, and seeing if they live up to the description provided by the card pictured above.  I am grateful to have this opportunity and  to have qualified for this Vox Box to share my thoughts. Thank You influenster.

First Impressions-- I think I will enjoy the products they sent me. Will my Impressions change as I start to test these out? Come back to Rue's World to find out.

Again, I received these products complimentary for Influenster for testing purposes.

Rue's World Updates-- Homemade Light Box.

I have kind of set up a light box for taking pictures on my blog. It's still a work in progress, but you will  be noticing me using it here in pictures to come. Some of the pictures are older so for  the next couple of weeks it will be a combination of new and old.

All I did was put a white blanket (it's has bears or something on it, but I plan on getting a different one) and got a floor lamp and took the shade off. I am thinking about getting a lamp and putting it on the other side of the blanket.

When not in use, I fold it up and place it in a basket.

Hope you like the way the pictures come out from now on. Comment below and let me know.

Peaceful and Happy thoughts,

Throwback Tuesday--- Old Black Nail Polish

Welcome to Throwback Tuesday. First Question you maybe asking is what is Throwback Tuesday? I first introduced the idea of Throwback Tuesday on my updates from last week. http://ruesbeautyworld.blogspot.com/2013/07/rues-world-updates.html

Throwback Tuesday is where I  take some of my older polishes and review it.  Also this is going to be a way for me to be able to see if the polish is old and needs to be thrown away and replaced if it wasn't limited edition. I have a basket that I have  pulled out of my collection that I have had for years. I am on the fence on whether or not to throw it out or not. This gives me an excuse to go through my collection since it's gotten so big,  there are months that can go by between when I use a polish, and the older ones can expire.  I got the idea from last week's versus, when I realized that my Pure Ice Wild Thing needed to be thrown out.

The two main things I will be looking for formula- has it changed, is it thick and stringy? and smell. If formula has changed and it's thick I can add a thinner to it. If it's isn't an limited edition and cheap, I will probably throw it away. At the end of each blog I will let you know if I am going to throw and replace, just throw it out,  keep, or rehab.

First polish of Throwback Tuesday will be three blacks that I have had since high school.

When I was in high school, I went through this phrase where all I would wear was black nail polish. I loved it. I was also on the search for the perfect black nail polish.  I found it, but I didn't like the brush, so I used a brush from a different black polish that I loved the brush on. Read on to find out.

Wet n Wild Wild Shine Black Creme
Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Black Out
Maybelline Express Finish Onyx Rush
Wet n Wild Wild Shine Black Creme

This is the oldest of all the three black polishes that  are mentioned here today. I don't know the exact age, but I am guessing it's going on eight years old. This was my first ever black nail polish owned. It isn't though the oldest polish I own. This polish is completely dried up, but I think I helped it along. A several  of months ago I added Nail Polish Remover to it, this is before I found out about nail polish thinner. There is no rehabing this polish. I am going to throw it away and replace it. Plus it's only 99 cents to replace.
Sally Hansen Hard as Nail Xtreme Wear Black Out

This is the second oldest Black Nail Polish I own. This is my first Sally Hansen Polish I ever owned. It started my love of the polish. However, I did not like the brush on this polish at the time. You can see how the brush is messed up because I put it in a smaller bottle. I loved the other brush more than this one.  This is probably my holy grail black nail polish, but I have not used it in a while. I haven't wore a lot of black nail polish here lately. When I opened this bottle, the smell about knocked me down.  The formula though hasn't thickened up or become stringy. I am going to throw this polish out and replace.  I don't know why I hadn't already replace it anyway.

Maybelline Express Finish Onyx Rush

This is the polish I loved the brush on. This polish is only about five years old. Yes, it's still old, but comparing to the others it's young. The formula hasn't changed. It isn't sticky or thick. The smell though is starting to change. I am planning on keeping it for a few more months. Come Fall, I will recheck it, and see if the smell has changed any. If it has I will through it out. I would like to get a couple more uses out of this polish. I believe this polish is no longer available. Considering I bought this polish at the Dollar Tree five years ago.

Can you see why the brush is messed up on Sally Hansen's? I left the brush in there for years, and just within the year changed it back out. The brush has straightened out since I put it back in the bottle, but you really cannot use it and have control.

  • I'm addicted to Candy Crush
  • Did You all know they now have Peanut Butter Poptarts? Need to find them and try them.
  • I'm wanting to change something about my hair. I haven't done anything to it in over a year. I either want to trim it and add some layers and bangs or color it. If I color it,I will probably wait until the end of summer, where the pool won't affect the color.
