Rue's Award 2013 (Beauty Edition)

Below is my 2013 favorites in Beauty.

Lip Products.

2013, has been the year of lip products. I have bought more lip products than any other makeup item. I am planning in 2014 to post an updated makeup collection. I finally have it organized the way I like it.

The products up above, are from my most worn lip products.
  • Jordana Lip Liners. I am in love with there lip liners. I have not found any others that I like. (pictured are Sedona Red and Cabernet)
  • Jordana Twist and Shine Lip Balm Stain. I love this brand, and own all of them but one. Pictured Cranberry Twist is my most worn for the fall.
  • Milani HD  Advance Lip Color in Modern Mauve (pictured). I own four of these, and love all of them.
  • Smashbox Lip Enhancing Mega Gloss in Celebrity. I received this for free. On Facebook, Smashbox offers free items if you answer a question or enter to win. I am unsure which one I did but I did receive this for free. It's my lips but better gloss.
  •  Revo Sugar Cookie lip balm.-- This the off brand of the EOS lip balm. available at Walgreens. It's only one dollar less, but I like this almost as good as EOS lip balms.

Face Products-

  •  Smashbox camera ready cc cream: This was my first CC cream, and also it I received this for free. I entered a contest through Facebook. I would suggest if you like smashbox products to like them on facebook. This has become my go to foundation, and once I am out, I will probably repurchase.
  • NYC Sunny: I love this bronzer. I also sometimes use it as a eye shadow, especially if I am not wearing much I will use it as a crease shade.
  • Wet N Wild Coverall Concealer: I am still looking for the perfect under eye concealer, but doing the summer I used in my T zone, and didn't wear any foundation.

Eye Products

  •  Covergirl Lash Blast Volume and Wet n Wild mega last in waterproof mascara: This has been my go to combination for at least 6 months now, and it makes my lashes looked amazing. It has become my holy grail
  • Revlon colorstay eyeliner in black: My go to eyeliner. I have tried several this year, and I keep going back to this one.
Skincare

  • Nu pore makeup remover wipes. I found these at my local grocery store, and they were only one dollar. They have become the only makeup wipes I will buy. I have a problem with most wipes for they break me out.

Hope everyone had a great 2013. 2014 will be even better.

Peaceful and Happy Thoughts,
--Rue.

After Christmas Sales HAUL! 2013

December 26, I hit up several places and got some great deal on nail polish holiday sets. I normally do this, and save a bunch of money.

I went to Wal-Mart, K-mart, Big Lots, CVS, and Dollar Tree. Here is what I got.

Big Lots
I was so excited when I walked in Big Lots and saw Sephora by OPI. When they were discontinued, I was unable to pick any up. So I picked up all except one Big Lots had.

Sephora by OPI Just a Little Dangerous 1.80
Sephora by OPI Indi-go with the flow 1.80
Sephora by OPI The Golden Age 1.80
Sephora by OPI to the glitter end 1.80
Sinful Colors Last Chance 1.00

CVS

18 mini LA COLORS nail set originally prices at 9.99 and I got it at 2.49, so I saved 7.50
Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Lady Luck. originally priced at 7.29, and I paid 1.82 saving 5.47
Nicole by OPI Inner Sparkle originally priced at 7.99 and I paid 1.99 saving 6 bucks.

K-mart

This set had three Sally Hansen Magnetic Polishes in It and two Salon effects which would cost according to the box around 50 bucks. It was originally priced at 9.99 and I paid 5.99 saving 4 bucks.

Wal-mart

On the left from Wal-Mart you see The Color Workshop Stamping Kit which comes with a stamp kit, lose silver and gold glitter, and four polish ( Black, White, Silver, and Gold). This was originally priced at 9.99 and I paid 4.94

On the right is the OMG hoof Party kit which came with 61 nail stickers, toe separators, file, nail clippers, and a plastic Orange stick, and 6 hoof polishes. I have always wanted to try hoof polishes. This kit was priced at originally at 9.99 and I paid 4.94.

I would have paid 19.98 for all this from Wal-Mart, but only paid 9.88.

Dollar Tree

Milani Purple Passion
Milani Black Cherry
Milani Black Magic
Artimatic
Arissa Rockin Amethyst

All these were one dollar each.

I love finding nail polish on sale, especially on brands that are higher end.

Rue's Trash--Last One of 2013

Since it's the end of the year, I wanted to get rid of all of the trash I have been saving to post. I do not want to start the new year with a bunch of trash.
Also I threw a bunch of trash away back in October, so this is from November and December

  1. Colgate Total Floss-already repurchased
  2. Up and Up Nail Polish-Target brand of nail polish remover. I would repurchase this brand
  3. - Renpure Orginals Brazilian Keratin Straigtening Shampoo- I will not repurchase. I did not like the way it or the condinitor made my hair feel
  4. White Barn Flannel-- I love this channel. It take a lot for me to burn a three wick candle in the same season it came out in. I really hope they bring this back next year.
  5. Patroit Candles Honey Crisp Apple smaller size-This candle is from Walgreens, and it burned FOREVER, and ususally this do not last very long, but this one burned for a couple of months. I will repurchase this book.
  6. April Bath and Shower in Red Apple- THis is from the Dollar Tree, and will not repurchase. It broke me out, so my family ended up using it. Then Lily got a hold of it, and poured it down the drain.
  7. White Rain Lavender Escape Conditioner- I used this as shave gel.
  8. PHisoderm clear confidence Face Scrub and Daily Gel Face Wash- will repurchase if I can find it. I got this at Big Lots, so I am unsure if it's still available.
  9. Onyx Professionial 321 Dry-- I probably will not repurchase this. I like the Nicole by OPI Quick Drying Drops 10 times better.

Back in September, I did a major cleaning, and got rid of a bunch of makeup, nail polish, and beauty products. I am not going to name everything in this box, but later I am going to do an updated collection and I will list all the polishes I got rid of. Most of these products where not empty, but they were old, and expired.

I did get rid of all my Sally Hansen Nail Quicks because they had all dried up, and I really did not like them any ways. So come back later for an updated collection post.

I am not separating it like I usually do with my monthly favorites this is going to be beauty and random all together. These come from November and back. I am planning a December favorites.

First off, I got a working smart phone back so I have been loving Instagram, follow me there at http://instagram.com/ruesworld. I typically post pics on there several times a week, and when I do my nail I typically, post on there. Also I have been loving the app Photo Grid, it is what I used below to make the collage of photos. Comment below if you like this way of using the photos.

Beauty Favorites:

1. Suave's everlasting sunshine scent.:
You all know that I have used several of the body washes. I recently just found the shampoo and conditioner, which I am going to have to stop using in my hair because it makes my scalp itch. I will use the conditioner as a shaving cream. Then the lotion I love. I really want them to make a body spray in this.

2. Clean and Clear Morning Burst Moisturizer:
I love this. It freshens up my face, and when I am starting to feel a little tired, I put this on, and for a little bit, it perks my face up, and it wakens me up.

3. Lip Products.
I finally got a hold of a Revlon Lip Butter, and I love it. Also I have been loving Jordana Lip Products. I have been loving their new Lip Balm Stains (unsure the exact name). I have been loving the Cranberry Crush for fall, and also I love their lip liners. I have been loving softlips lip balm to keep my lips from getting chapped.

Food Loves

 1. Oatmeal- this has been a breakfast stample for the past few months.
The one in the pic is strawberry.
2. anything pumpkin
3. mayfield crunchy carmel pretzel. my whole family loves this and we found it on sale so we had to stock up
4. pumpkin spice cap. i love the cap way better than the lattes and i dont know what the difference is.

Candles
1.apple scented candle from walgreens. this candle burned forever and it wasnt that big. full review coming soon.
2. white barn flannel. this has to be my favorite of bath and body works fall candles.
3. bath and body works candle holder. it looks like a sweater.

Sephora by OPI

Yesterday I was shopping at big lots and came across Sephora by OPI for 1.80. As most in the nail polish community know, it was discontinued a few months ago. They had about 5 different shades. Go by your local big lots and see if yours have it.

Another Holiday Nail Look 2013

Here's another great look to wear for the Holidays. It's too late for Christmas, but New Years is coming up in a week. Wow, I can't believe we have a week of 2013 left.

I used China Glaze Ruby Pumps, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Celeb City, and topped it with European Secrets Hoofer's Choice.
I applied three coats of both Ruby Pumps and Celeb City.

Christmas Mani Ideas. Along with December Manicures. 2013

These are simple and they really are the same design, but just different colors. I have been loving doing two accent nails recently. These three all have my middle two nails (ring and middle finger) as accent nails.

First of all I can't believe it's already Christmas time. The last few manicure I have done have been semi Christmas themed, and it takes nothing but the ability to paint nails to do these.

All of these looks were topped with European Secrets Hoofer's Choice. (review coming soon), but use your favorite.

Look 1:

Polished used:
Orly's Au Champagne (this is from their 2011 Holiday collection, but you can use any white)
Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear in Celeb City

How to get this look:
On my all the nail, except for the two accent nails, I do three coats of the Au Champagne. This will depend on what time of white polish you use. On the accent nail, I only do one coat. If your using a sheerer silver then you may need to do more than one. On the accent nails, I then do one coat of Celeb City. Then top it off with your top coat.

Look 2:
 Polishes Used:
China Glaze Ruby Pumps (This is a shimmery red. This is my favorite red.)
China Glaze Glittering Garland (This is a shimmery dark green. Also this was in their 2011 Holiday collection, but CG usually has a shimmery green in all their holiday collections. I am unsure about this year's holiday collection).

How to get this look:
I do three coats of each polish. I could have stopped at two, but I did a third for more sparkle. Top with a top coat.

Look 3: My Christmas Nails
 Polishes Used:
China Glaze Ruby Pumps
Wet n Wild Wild Shine in A Blank Canvas (any white polish will do)
Essie luxeffects in pure pearlfection (Any glitter will do. You cannot tell from the picture that this is on top of the white polish, but it shows up in person)

How to get the look:
I once again did three coats with Ruby Pumps, and only two with the white polish, which I topped with Essie polish. I used two coats of that polish. Top with a top coat.

Look 4:

This is OPI Malaga Wine. I found this one sale at K-mart, and had to have it. I am unsure if it's LE or part of OPI's regular line. I did three coats of this. I had an extremely hard time opening this bottle, and after all the work I was kind of disappointed in the color. I am going to write a post about how I finally got this bottle open.

Update on Collection Organization:

All my purple\plum  polishes. I own way too many.
I have finished swatching and organizing my polishes, so except coming soon a blog post about my polish collection organization.

Hope you all have a Merry Christmas.

Peaceful and Happy Thoughts,
--Rue.

What I Have been up to?

I have been organizing my nail polish collection and swatching my collection. I lost my swatches when I moved back in May, and I haven't had the time to redo it. I am also organizing my collection back into color. I recently had to move my collection so Lily couldn't get into it. Hopefully before my break is over I will be able to have an updated collection organization for you all. Also I will do an updated collection because in the fall, I threw a lot of my older polishes away because I didn't have time to rehab them or they were way too old. I will list what I threw away. I have a picture of all my beauty products I did get rid of.

If I don't post before then I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, but I am planning on several posts before then. As you know I can plan, but that doesn't always work out.

Peaceful and Happy Thoughts,
--Rue.

OPI @ Sally's Beauty.

I went into Sally's Beauty Supply, and they now sell OPI. One of the reasons I do not own a lot of OPI is because I couldn't find it anywhere except in the town over, but now Sally's sell it, and I have two real close to me. I am kind of excited for this.

Now, OPI is still kind of expensive for me, but I do have some shades I really want. OPI usually runs around 8 bucks most store, but at Sally's it's priced at 8.99. If you are a beauty club member it is 7.99.

Once again I have mentioned it several times, but I do highly suggest becoming a beauty club member. It's technically  free. You pay 5 bucks, but then you get a five dollar off coupon on your next visit. If you are a member, you save every time you go in, and you also get coupons at the register at least once a month if not more.

Peaceful and Happy Thoughts,
--Rue.

Influenster Violet VoxBox (Unboxing and First Impressions) December 2013 #VioletVoxBox

Hey everyone, I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving, and I know I sure did. I am thankful for every moment my family can get together and enjoy each other company. I am also thankful to my readers who keep on coming back even though I have been extremely absent the past few months since being busy with school. Also before I get into the blog topic for today I want to say, my winter break is coming up soon, so you need to be expecting more blog post on here since I will have time.

First of all I want to tell you all that I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

I qualified for another VoxBox from influenster, and today I came outside to find it had arrived. I was super excited because I get to review things for you I might not have if it wasn’t for influenster, and influenster is a great source. I go to their website and look up reviews all the time. The link to their website is down below.

If you are new to my blog you may ask what is Influenster? It's a service that you can join to receive products to test. You must qualify to be able to be to be sent items to review. I joined back in May of last year, and this is the first VoxBox that I have qualified for.  Also you must be invited to join Influenster. Take a look at their website if you would like to be come and Influenster. http://www.influenster.com/ . This is also where you ask for an invite.

This VoxBox is called as the title says the Violet VoxBox, and the description of the box, pictured above, from influenster is the violet vox box is “inspired by this season’s dark, moody florals, the Violet VoxBox is for the beauty queens of Influenster Nation. And, as surely as winter comes, we know that under layers of snow, spring violets still grow. So go on, check in your box, test your new goodies and start sharing a little flower power with your friends, family, and followers this fall!”

What I got:

Goody Athletique Headbands.

Retail Price: 6.00

Description: “Goody Athletique provides hold and comfort so you can be physically active and strong in body and mind”

First Impression: I love Goody hair products, and it’s my go to brand of choice. Now, I have bought headbands before, and they do not stay on my head. So while I am working out or cleaning, they keep falling off. I apparently have a weird shape head. This head band is different though. It has a Velcro on it so you can adjust it to your head. I am hoping it will fix the problem of my headbands falling off.

SOYJOY: Baked Whole Soy and Fruit Bar

Retail Price: 0.99

sorry it's upside down

Description: “SOYJOY is an all-natural, gluten free snack bar make with non-GMO soybeans and real fruit pieces. Between 130-140 calories, SOYJOY is a great on-the-go or it can be enjoyed warm (unwrap and microwave for 8-10 seconds for a “fresh-baked” experience!) with coffee or tea”

First Impression: I am always looking for non-GMO foods, so I was excited to see this in my box. I haven’t tired this brand yet, but I have seen it on my grocery store shelves. I got the flavor banana, and I love banana flavors. I am addicted to banana bread, and I have it for breakfast a lot. I hope this tastes like banana bread. I will let you know how I like it, but more importantly I will share it will Lily, and let you know how she likes it.

Now for the two products that I was extremely excited to get. Both of these products, I have almost bought several times, but decided to not get.

Goody QuikStyle Brush

Retail Price: 12.99

Description: “Goody QuikStyle let you go from wet to beautifully styled hair faster than ever! Super absorbent microfiber bristles remove water as you style. It’s like a towel and brush in one.”

First Impression: As I mentioned earlier, I love Goody hair products. Brushing your hair while wet is bad for your hair, but I do it all the time, so I am hoping this brush will be easier on my hair. I will see how it helps with drying. I never blow dry my hair so it will be reviewed with air drying.

Sally Hansen New Triple Shine Nail Color

Retail Price: 4.99

Shade: 210: Reef-Raf

Description: “New Triple Shine Nail Color! Daily defense from water and wear. Get ready for the shiniest nails ever! Water to workout, day in and day out, nothing will dull these nails. Available in 30 shades.”

First Impression: You all know I love Sally Hansen as a brand in whole. I was excite to get this. Plus it’s a nail polish. I will wear it and let you know if it lives up to its description.

First Impression of box overall: I am excited about the products in this box, and can’t wait to review these for you all. This box is total retail value is around 25 dollars. I just got this box, so come back in the weeks to come for blogs reviewing these products. Since Winter Break is coming up next week, I will have time to blog on here. I am also hoping to stock pile on blogs so I can keep this up during classes. Keep checking back.

Follow this blog to keep up with the reviews of these items. Also follow me on Twitter and Instagram, I will post on both when I post a blog.

My Instagram is private, but you can request to follow.

Also I have started a personal blog that I post what going on in my life and thoughts on certain things, so make sure you follow me there as well:

Finally, make sure to go check out influenster. http://www.influenster.com/.  On their website, you can find reviews on pretty much anything, and these reviews come from everyday people. You don’t have to get a voxbox to reviews items.

Disclaimer: All the retail prices and description which are in quotation marks are from the description card that is sent with the box. And once again I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes. Also check out my disclaimer policy up above.

Peaceful and Happy Thoughts,

--Rue.
