  • MASH: Every evening my cousin and I watch this when she gets home, and we typically watch it until dinner time.
CANDLE:

I have been burning candles a lot this month since I have unpacked them, and got my room unpacked. My favorites are the Mainstay candles in Island Luau, Lemon Cake, and Sun Splashed. All the Bath and Body Works Candles I own are fall and winter scents, and I haven't been there to get any of their summer scents. I love this Mainstay candles from Walmart and they are cheap. The ones pictured below are one dollar each.

OTHER:
  • Food: anything with lemon in it.
  • Shower Curtain Hooks: Do you know what you can do with all them? Two of the uses I have found is hanging my scarves and handbags.
  • Book: Riding Lessons by Sara Gruen. She also wrote Water for Elephants which was turned into a movie not long ago with Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson. I really like the movie, so it's going to be one of my next reads if I can get my hands on it.  I couldn't put Riding Lessons down.
  • Game: I have been playing games on facebook from King, the maker of Candy Crush.
Rue's Life
  • It's Shark Week on Discovery, and I have been watching it.

Rue's Awards--July 2013 Beauty Loves

Here are my beauty loves for the month of July.

Makeup Loves:

I only have one makeup favorite this month. I am still loving the things from June. If you haven't checked it out take a look: http://ruesbeautyworld.blogspot.com/2013/07/rues-awards-june-2013-beauty.html

For the summer, I have fallen in love with the tinted lip balms with more tint (like the Revlon Lip Butters). If you have been following my blog, you know in my makeup collections I have every few lip products. I hate the texture of lip stick, not a big fan of gloss either, but I absolutely love lip balms. I have more several of those. Last year when this craze started with the tinted lip balms like the Revlon Lip Butters, which I do not own, but hopefully will soon, I didn't not buy any because at that point I wasn't really into lip products, but this summer, I am calling it the summer of the lip product. I have added many lip products to my collection. (yes, I am doing an updated Makeup collection soon. Lip Products is going to be the first.)

Now, my favorite at this moment is the Milani HD Adnvance LIp Color. I found these at Dollar Tree for only 1 dollar. I have picked up every color I could find there. I haven't heard much about these on YouTube, but I personally love them.

Raspberry Blush
Modern Mauve
Rich Caramel
Candy Apple
Candy Apple

Above are the ones I own of this collection. To the right is the lip product I have been grabbing most of the summer.

I highly suggest if you come across these, try them. I am unsure where else you can pick them up besides the Dollar Tree. I haven't seen them anywhere else that carry Milani. I am not sure if they are being discontinued or what. I know that the Dollar Trees that are close to me still have them. I just recently (in  the past two weeks) bought one.

Nail Loves:

I recently ran out of my Nicole by OPI quick drying drops, which was a sad day. I loved them so much, but I didn't want to spend that much on quick drying drops. I found them originally on sale at Target, the whole reason I bought them in the first place. I was looking around at Walmart and I found these quick drying spray from Onyx. I believe it was around 3 dollars. I picked it up to see how I liked it.

Yes, I do still love my quick drying drops, but I love this as well. Anything that makes my manicure dry quicker is a life saver for me. The spray from is better than the drops considering sometimes I am doing a manicure with a 2 year old running around. The spray is more convenient for me. Yes, the spray takes a little longer to dry, but not much longer. I have found if you spray it after each coat it works better.

My Beauty Secrets Pure Acetone with a small lining brush has become my favorite way to clean up my manicure. I have had this for a while, but after the first time using it my cap messed up, and it had a child safety cap on it. I don't know what happened, but my cousin who is a football player couldn't get it off. I was going to throw it away and just buy a new one, but one day, I decided to work on getting the cap off. So I took a knife and pride it off. I do not suggest it because you can get injured. I ended up chipping the lid off. Now, I love it. I have used almost half of the bottle.

Wet n Wild Wild Shine.
Teal Slowly and See
Red Red
Dreamy Poppy
This is my rediscovered love of the month. Wet n Wild Wild Shine was the first polish I ever owned from Wet n Wild, but I had forgotten about these polish. The ones I had in my collection were getting old, and I had stopped using these. This month, I bought these three, and I don't know why I don't have more from the Wild Shine collection, and the best part they are only 99 cents, which you can normally find cheaper at the drug stores normally for 69 cents. They have them on sale it seems like all the time.

Also this is new this month, but I am including my favorite nail polish colors from the month. This is different from the look favorites. I am not have not liked the look, but loves the color. Also I painted my nails with out doing anything special with them, so this month my two nail polish colors are:

Sinful Colors Sinful Shine Man Hunt

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Pacific Blue

Rue's Life:
  • I am praying that I will soon get a car. It's been over two months since my car broke down, and it sucks not having one. I am calling about one tomorrow.
  • Looking forward to the fall. I have started pulling out fall nail polishes, and can't wait to start wearing dark polishes again, but I am not looking forward to putting up the bright lip colors. Can I wear them into the fall too?

Rue's Awards- July 2013 Nail Looks.

It's that time of the month again for my favorite nail looks for the previous month. I can't believe it's already August and time to go back to school. It seems like yesterday, my cousins were just getting out of school. I feel this month, I do not have a selection for looks for you since I didn't paint my nails for almost two weeks.

Look 1: Fourth of July Manicure.
http://ruesbeautyworld.blogspot.com/2013/07/rues-nails-fourth-of-july-edition.html

This is one of the first manicures that I planned out weeks in advanced, and I loved it.

Look 2: Hyde Park Manicure in honor of the Royal Baby

Look 3: Wet n Wild Love Manicure

Come back later this week for my Random favorites, and beauty favorites, which will include the polishes I have fallen in love with this past months.

Peaceful and Happy Thoughts,
--Rue.

Rue's Nails of the Week for the last week of July.

I know it's late. Have you ever not painted you nails for a while, and it seems like every time you try and paint them, they look horrible? This has been the problem I have had. Since I hadn't painted my nails for two weeks, I had gotten out of the habit, so every time I painted them, they looked bad, and I didn't want to post them. With that, this week's looks there are only two.

Look 1: Hyde Park Jelly Sandwich Accent

Polishes Used:
L'oreal Hyde Park
Pure Ice It's Complicated

This manicure is in honor of the birth of the Royal Baby. Since Hyde Park is in London, and if I am not mistaking the baby's home will be close to Hyde Park.(If I am wrong about this, please comment below). Now on what I used to get this look.

L'oreal Hyde Park is a green. It's very sheer, but become opaque with about three to four coats depending on application. It only took about three coats with this application, but I have worn this before and it took four.

First, I do not thing this polish is considered a jelly polish. Then you may ask how could I get a jelly sandwich out of it. Here is a closer look at the accent nail.

Pure Ice It's Complicatied is a multi-colored glitter polish with small hex glitter, medium size hex glitter, and larger hex glitter. In my opinion, I do not like this glitter polish. I have other polishes that I get more glitter off of from than this polish. I do love Pure Ice though as a brand just not this glitter polish. If you want a swatch of the glitter on it's own, comment below.

I believe the reason that I was able to achieve the jelly sandwich effect with this look is because I didn't wait of the glitter polish to completely dry, so when I applied the green over top, I was able to mix the green in with it. I do not recommend this because glitter did come off on the brush from the Hyde Park brush. I did clean it off before putting it back in the bottle. I did like the look though.
It took three coats of glitter to get the glitter pay off you see in the picture.

To finish off this look, I topped off with Seche Vite Top Coat.

Look 2: Wet n Wild Love

Polishes Used:
Wet n Wild Wild Shine Teal Slowly and See
Spoiled by Wet n Wild Pet My  Peacock
Wet n Wild Fergie Mermaid Curves

I am in absolute love with this nail color. I have nothing like it in my collection. This is a new polish from Wet n Wild Wild Shine. This is Teal Slowly and See. It's from their new collection Pop Art. The collection has five other colors in it:White, Blue, Purple, Green, and an Orange, but this one is the only one I felt I didn't have one like in the my collection. After looking at the collection more, I am end up getting the green, the purple, and the white. Plus these polishes are only 99 cents, and most of the time you can find them on sale at Walgreens or Rite Aid for 69 cents. Basically a steal.

Teal Slowly and See is a Creme Polish. It took two coats, but I think some people may be able to get away with one. I would suggest two coats.

For the accent nail, I used two different types of glitter. After painted my nail with two coats of Teal Slowly and See. I let it completely dry, and I then added my first coat of glitter Spoiled by Wet n Wild Pet my Peacock, which is a large blue and silver hex glitter in a clear base. I was going to stop with that, but I did not like how it looked. I wanted sparkle, so I topped it with Wet n Wild Fergie Mermaid Curves which has small hex glitter in blue and silver,  even smaller glitter in blue and silver and is in a blue base. I did two coats of it.

I topped all the nails with my Seche Vite Top Coat.

Rue's Life

  • My fan in my room broke this weekend, and now my room feels stale. There is no air circulation at ALL. I will be buying a new fan soon.
  • I am going to look at a car soon, keep your fingers crossed that everything will be in place and I will maybe get it.
  • Lily found a tube of mascara today, and she put it on her eye. She had the right idea where it goes, but she looked like a raccoon. She was so cute, but she should definietly not know where it goes. She's not even two yet!
  • I have been at my job for two years. It doesn't seem like that long ago, which also means that I been out of college for over two years.
Peaceful and Happy thoughts,
